Mararu - muruci
Walking a few more meters down the fence, I discovered a muruci (Byrsonima crassifolia) tree in full bloom. We see few of these trees in the Planalto, where Bosque Santa Lucia is located. Muruci likes the sandy soils of the tropical savanna around this area, as well as the northeast region of Brazil. The trees bear yellow fruit about the size of marbles and it is a favorite for making juices. More often than not you will find murici juice on the hotel breakfast table.
