Urtiga

I've been admiring urtiga (Urera baccifera) for years without knowing the name of the plant. As a matter of fact, the one you see in the attached image is quite close to the Bosque reception center and it really stands out because of the very large leaves. Our visiting botanist, Valdely Kinupp, not only identified it for me, but also grabbed a few leaves to munch on. I did the same, while he gave me a rundown on the nutritional values of the plant. Amazing!
