This Brazil nut pod was opened by an animal, probably a rodent, as described by our caretaker, C. Mello. The nuts are some of the finest foods found in the forest and everyone knows it, including local neighbors of the Bosque. A pod this seize normally contains 14-18 nuts. The pod is an armor of steel and every nut likewise protected by a very strong shell.
