Ceiba tree, Flona

This ceiba tree (Ceiba pentanda) is on the bluff overlooking the Tapajós River, not far from the Flona reception center. The lower trunk, as seen in the image, is like looking at the wall of a building. It's something else to see. There is even a larger ceiba on another trail system at flona. It's so big, you can see it from a boat on the Tapajós River, nearly 15 kilometers way.

What an amazing tree. You have gone from the tall trees in Alaska to the enormous trees in Brazil. Fascinating.

I like the rubber tree below, too. Interesting patterns.

I've been enjoying your archives, bit by bit, as time allows me.
