Bring home the meat

I don't know the name of this high-strung, racy insect in shining blue armor. They move around real fast-like and in this case, it seems to have paid off. If I'm not mistaken, that's a baby spider being dragged off for dinner. Click on image for more details.

Definitely a wasp, looks like something in the Sphecoidea. Many species in this group capture spiders, which they paralyze with their sting, then provision nests with them to serve as food for eggs they've laid in the nest. The wasp seals it all up once well provisioned and flies off - the spiders lie there waiting to be eaten alive, unable to scream ;-)

> Ted, all very interesting. I'd forgotten some of these details. Maybe this death is better than cancer among us human beings. Volunteers?
