Marilha's garden, continued

A macaxeira plant (Manihot esculenta), sometimes called aipim. It's the nonpoisonous variety of manioc, which can be cooked much like potatoes, since it doesn't contain prussic acid. Marilha tells me that this particular variety came from Pernambuco in the northeastern part of Brazil.
