Cupuaçu tree
I've shown the cupuaçu pod, the fruit and the foliage. Now comes the tree itself. In an open environment, the tree doesn't get very tall and it can provide lots of shade. This particular area is getting a bit congested with other trees and an imperial palm, so the tree is getting higher and higher every year. It's just beginning to flower. The fruit will develop quickly once the rainy season gets under way and the pods will continue to fall through July and August. Note the accumulation of old leaves on the ground. They are quite large.
