I planted this imperial palm (
Roystonea oleracea) in the shade of other trees some 19-20 years ago. It was rather slow in getting up above its competitors, but it now seems to be on stage for good. I never pass by the palm without looking up to see if it's producing fruit. Who knows, maybe the new root system is saying something about it maturity. This palm has a life expectancy of about 220 years!
