Wild fig trees, continued

A closer look at the new root system produced by this wild fig tree.

Steven, I believe the tree is called Clusia grandiflora. We have lots of them in Cerrado. They eventually strangle the smaller trees.

Wes, the fig trees may have some similarities with the Clusia, but they are another family altogether. I don't claim to be an expert of the subject. The classification was done a forester some ten years ago.
