Jucá

Another tree losing bark these days is jucá (Calsalpinia ferrea). They are even rarer than the goiabarana tree shown on the previous post. As the scientific name implies, it's an ironwood. The word jucá in the indigenous language means "the wood that kills", referring to its hardness.
